Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle billing and account follow-up while maintaining compliance with governmental and regulatory agencies.
- Bill private insurance, private individuals, and government entities for home medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Viemed billing and compliance policies, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
- Review HCFAs and patient invoices for appropriate coding, charges, allowable amounts, co-pays, and supporting documentation.
- Follow up with therapists, intake specialists, CSRs, and other relevant parties to collect open billings promptly and maintain billing compliance.
- Identify payer issues related to billing and report them to management.
- Coordinate patient information and process paperwork, including preparation of files for billing.
- Establish patient records and document equipment rental information accurately.
- Process accounts and maintain records in a timely manner.
- Ensure charts and tickets are billed within 48 hours of receiving paperwork.
- Report concerns or issues to the Intake Manager or Intake Supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 2 years of experience working for a Durable Medical Equipment company or in a relevant medical office setting preferred.
- 2 to 4 years of HME billing, data entry, accounting, or customer service experience.
- Ability to file, perform billing functions, maintain records, and understand billing requirements.
- Basic understanding of medical insurance benefits and medical billing systems preferred.
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, HCFA 1500, UB04 claim forms, HIPAA, billing and insurance regulations, and medical terminology.
- Understanding of in-network vs. out-of-network plans, PPO, and HMO coverage.
- Ability to read and understand medical documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with physicians, patients, insurers, colleagues, and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to maintain productivity.
- Able to work Monday through Friday with assigned shifts; occasional weekend work or overtime may be required.
