Responsible for the submission, reconciliation, and collection of accounts receivable for Ridgeview Medical Center. This role reports and submits claims to third-party payers, answers inquiries, and provides customer service in resolving billing issues and account balances. Primary focus areas include payment posting, collections, accounts receivable management, and remittance reconciliation.
Job functions
- Review clearinghouse transactions, identify claim rejections, make corrections, and generate original or corrected claims for submission.
- Review aged accounts receivable and monitor outstanding insurance claims.
- Ensure payments are posted accurately and timely to patient accounts.
- Answer inquiries regarding insurance and billing concerns and follow up with appropriate internal sources when needed.
- Complete remittance reconciliation.
- Assist external customers and refer them to the proper resources for questions.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
- Maintain knowledge of insurance company policies and billing guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of professional medical billing experience, or demonstrated performance history with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and initiative
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Demonstrated claim submission skills
- Ability to meet and maintain necessary background checks
- Effective written and verbal communication in English
- Analytical skills
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to multitask

- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
