Professional Biller Level 1

Legacy Health

This is a hybrid role open to candidates working from Oregon or Washington. Team members typically work 2-3 days per week onsite at a Legacy Health location, with the remainder of the workweek completed from a virtual location.

New hires are required to travel to a Legacy Health office in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date to complete a health assessment and new hire paperwork. Initial training and orientation may be conducted on-site before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.

As a Biller I, you will provide accurate and professional billing support, build relationships, and grow your expertise in a caring team environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing straightforward medical billing functions to third-party payors on basic lower-dollar accounts.
  • Reviewing transactions to verify accuracy and completeness of charges.
  • Researching denied or incomplete bills.
  • Verifying ICD-10 coding.
  • Researching and resolving patient complaints.
  • Specializing in a general payor or bill type such as Commercial, Government, Medicaid, Medicare, or Motor Vehicle Accident.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of healthcare clerical experience, healthcare admitting experience, or applicable billing experience.
  • Healthcare billing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of billing and collection rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of online systems for eligibility and claim status review.
  • Familiarity with billing software and electronic medical records, including Microsoft Office products and 10-key proficiency.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to resolve billing issues and handle denied claims.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and use independent judgment within stated guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, multitasking, deadline management, verbal communication, written communication, and adaptability.
