Billing Specialist

First Step House is a Salt Lake City-based nonprofit dedicated to helping people build lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery.

As a Billing Specialist, you will help ensure the organization receives accurate and timely reimbursement for medical and behavioral health services.

In this role, you will:

• Submit clean medical, laboratory, and specialty program claims
• Investigate and resolve claim denials and billing issues
• Perform Medicaid eligibility verification and insurance follow-up
• Reconcile and maintain accounts receivable
• Stay current on Medicaid, Medicare, and payer updates
• Work with internal departments to resolve eligibility and billing concerns
• Support timely and accurate billing practices that strengthen the organization’s financial health
