Growing medical billing office seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join an expanding team. This role supports multiple areas of the revenue cycle while working predominantly from home, with scheduled in-office days assigned by management.
The position includes insurance follow-up, claim denials and appeals, guarantor follow-up, patient correspondence, customer service, payment posting, and other medical billing duties. The goal is to streamline the billing process, reduce claim denials, and improve the organization’s financial health.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient information and insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing
- Use insurance portals
- Review EOBs and remittances to apply contractual adjustments, denials, reviews, and balance billing
- Follow up on unpaid and outstanding claims to ensure timely filing and payment
- Identify, resolve, correct, and resubmit denied claims
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and discrepancies
- Support patients, providers, and insurance companies with billing issues
- Follow established processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of billing activity on accounts
- Comply with HIPAA regulations
