About the Role

Cascade Community Healthcare is seeking a Billing Specialist to join its team. The role focuses on claim submission, payment posting, claims auditing, account balance management, and supporting revenue cycle operations for a community mental health organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit clean claims to payers via electronic submission, direct entry, or paper
  • Verify payer eligibility and maintain benefit summaries for clients
  • Work with the IS department on service codes, edits, fees, and required documents
  • Post claim and contract payments
  • Assist with contract billing preparation, review, and submission
  • Manage account statuses and balances, identifying inconsistencies
  • Correct and resubmit claims to payers as needed
  • Track delinquent accounts and report status
  • Evaluate client financial status and help establish payment plans
  • Review Sliding Fee Discount Program applications and determine eligibility
  • Update SFDP forms annually based on Federal Poverty Level guidelines
  • Maintain client logs and enter SFDP financials
  • Assist with AR aging totals
  • Update and maintain billing products and forms within EHR systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Two years of medical billing experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices required
  • Experience in a mental health or medical setting preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet firm deadlines
  • Experience with accounts receivable software and collections
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to enter information into a computer network system
  • Must be able to comply with agency policies and procedures
  • Must be able to pass WA State Patrol background checks; a national background check may be required depending on residency history
  • Must maintain current contact information and address on file with HR
