Valley Cities is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) focused on expanding access to mental health and substance use treatment, strengthening crisis intervention, and serving the community regardless of financial circumstances.

This role manages billing, collections, and revenue processes to support timely and accurate reimbursement for behavioral health services.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the revenue cycle from claim submission and insurance verification through collections and reconciliation.
  • Enter client service data into the Electronic Health Record for billing and reporting purposes.
  • Review and submit claims accurately in compliance with payer requirements and coding standards.
  • Track unpaid claims and work with payers to resolve denials and rejections.
  • Prepare and submit appeal letters with required supporting documentation.
  • Process incoming billing mail and client statements.
  • Post payments, research accounts, process daily deposits, and complete bank deposit activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of client communications, payment agreements, and follow-up actions.
  • Respond to billing and collections inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Prepare monthly reports on self-pay overdue accounts and collection efforts.
  • Support training for clinical staff on reimbursement-related procedures.
  • Maintain contract data submission knowledge and serve as a liaison with contracted agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality, comply with HIPAA, and follow quality improvement practices.
  • Provide backup support and other general administrative duties as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or three years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience with non-profit behavioral health outpatient and inpatient billing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Ability to follow common-sense judgment and logic in daily work.
