The Medical Billing Specialist is a higher-level billing role within the Hospital or Physicians Billing Offices for the Albany Med Health System (AMHS). The role is centered predominantly around denials and requires the ability to understand and resolve complex denials, research payer requirements, and work independently while serving as a resource to the team.
This position also acts as a learning partner or mentor, manages assigned projects, presents findings and recommended resolutions to leadership, and supports revenue cycle operations through reporting, communication, and collaboration across departments. Proficiency with Epic, OnBase, and related platforms is expected, including running reports and creating custom reports as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
- Associate's degree preferred
- 2+ years of medical billing experience required
- Strong Epic Resolute billing experience required
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with internal peers and leadership
- Ability to learn and understand instruction
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-volume environment
- Microsoft Office and website knowledge
- CCS, CIC, or COC certification upon hire preferred
