This role supports occupational health and worker's compensation billing activities, including claims review, payment posting, denial follow-up, and communication with payers and internal staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
Duties and responsibilities
- Review and address occupational health claims to ensure proper payments are received according to payer contracts
- Review unprocessed claims within timely filing limits for resubmission
- Research EOBs to verify correct payments and adjustments are posted to patient accounts
- Research EOBs to determine whether unpaid balances should be appealed to the appropriate Worker's Compensation Committee
- Research denied claims or claims with no response to determine follow-up steps to obtain payment
- Correct registrations on Worker's Compensation accounts and refile claims
- Address account inquiries and update requests in a timely manner
- Maintain working relationships with payer representatives to support proper claim filing and reimbursement
- Communicate trends or issues to appropriate staff
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient account status and financial affairs
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Arrive to work on time as scheduled
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Post occupational health and worker's compensation payments
- Answer client inquiries via phone and email daily
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of previous medical experience required
