Charge Master Analyst - Revenue Cycle

Under the direction of the CDM & CGT Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating the charge master system and function, including maintaining a complete, accurate, and standardized chargemaster. The role provides charge master expertise, support, education, guidance, and recommendations to clinical and administrative departments to help optimize net revenue.

Essential Duties

  • Ensure the charge master and fee schedules align with government compliance policies and third-party payer requirements.
  • Review, identify, and analyze CPT changes related to quarterly and annual AMA updates and regulatory changes.
  • Work with revenue-producing departments to maintain consistency across the chargemaster and fee schedules, including descriptions, coding, additions, deletions, pricing, and other changes.
  • Analyze the net revenue effect of proposed charge master and fee schedule changes.
  • Conduct annual and quarterly charge master reviews and updates.
  • Serve as a resource for Patient Financial Services staff on claim problems and denials, researching coding issues and recommending solutions.
  • Support strategic pricing efforts to optimize reimbursement within budget guidelines.
  • Help resolve revenue cycle issues and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist with policies and procedures for CDM, pricing policies, and charge capture processes.
  • Build collaborative relationships with executive, clinical, and administrative leaders across the health system.
  • Provide regulatory, reimbursement, and billing guidance and develop training to support compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and corporate guidelines, including HCPCS/CPT updates and billing unit rule changes.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business, Accounting, or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in charge capture, coding, or charge description master work in a hospital or practice environment required.
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • CPC, CCS, or another coding certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle functions, billing, and collection processes specific to the charge description master.
  • Knowledge of CMS, state, and federal regulatory requirements and claim form data elements.
  • Ability to identify data and analytic challenges, including data integrity, sampling, context, and consistency between sources.
  • Experience supporting Revenue Integrity initiatives, implementation, or major process improvement and redesign.
  • Strong planning, flexibility, communication, and listening skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
