Reno Orthopedic Center is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join its team onsite at the Main location in Reno, Nevada.
This role focuses on high-volume medical and surgical coding, same-day charge entry, and compliant billing to support efficient patient care. The position also involves reviewing patient encounters, correcting chart or claim issues, collaborating with clinical staff to clarify documentation, and helping support clean claims and timely reimbursement.
For surgical cases, the role may include communication with vendors regarding implants, inventory management, purchase orders, and entering related charges into the practice management system.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes as applied to patient charts and claims
- One year of experience performing customer service duties
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, outside entities, and customers
- Ability to de-escalate tense or sensitive conversations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review work for accuracy
- Preferred: Associate's degree in Health Information Management
- Preferred: Experience reviewing and correcting patient billing statements or claims
