Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Billing Analyst I in the Lab Administration department.
In this role, you will monitor billing operations for specific service lines or groups. You will work with the Senior Billing Analyst, Supply Chain, Nursing, and Perioperative Leadership to verify accuracy and reconcile supply and facility-based charges. You will audit charts to verify charge documentation, identify patterns, and make recommendations for workflow changes to reduce charge capture issues.
This position is primarily work from home with onsite work as needed. Candidates must be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Position details
- Full-time (1.00 FTE)
- Day shift, approximately 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Primarily remote with onsite work at Hyde Park as needed
- No on-call shifts
- No weekend schedule anticipated
Required qualifications
- High school diploma required
- 1-3 years of experience with hospital billing operations required
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding systems required
- Certification required within 12 months of hire: CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or any combination
- Successful completion of a medical terminology class
- Familiarity with large healthcare information systems
- Experience with PC-based spreadsheets and word processing
- Strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to manage interpersonal relationships and multiple priorities effectively
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Operating room billing operations preferred
- Experience with IDX, OACIS, EPIC, and/or Last Word preferred
