Responsibilities include:
- Scanning, indexing, and filing non-electronic medical and administrative information/forms
- Maintaining daily logs of documents scanned, filed, and indexed
- Responding to requests for information in a positive and efficient manner
- Performing qualitative reviews of work performed on scanned documents
Requirements & Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- May be subject to a probationary period
- Must successfully pass a federal background investigation
- Must meet financial suitability requirements
- Must comply with IHS immunization policy if working in an IHS healthcare facility
- Work schedule may include 24/7 coverage, holidays, and weekends
- REAL ID-compliant identification required prior to appointment
Qualifications:
- GS-5: 4 years of education above high school in a related field, or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-4
- GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5
Specialized experience may include:
- Reviewing medical records for completeness
- Preparing, scanning, indexing, and filing medical documentation into an electronic health record system
- Conducting quality control checks of scanned records
- Processing requests for release of information in accordance with privacy requirements
- Maintaining medical record tracking logs
- Retrieving and archiving records
- Communicating with healthcare providers and staff to ensure accurate and complete patient records
