Lighthouse Psychiatry is seeking a highly organized Medical Billing & Credentialing Specialist to support revenue cycle operations for an outpatient psychiatry and behavioral health practice.
This role manages the billing process from patient eligibility through claim resolution, while also supporting provider credentialing and payer enrollment activities. The position is tailored to a psychiatry practice using athenaOne and handling commercial insurance, Medicare, and AHCCCS.
Key responsibilities include:
- Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
- Updating patient demographics and insurance information
- Reviewing schedules for insurance-related issues
- Identifying authorization needs and resolving registration errors
- Reviewing encounters for charge capture and coding completeness
- Submitting, correcting, and tracking claims
- Managing accounts receivable, denials, appeals, and aging reports
- Posting insurance and patient payments
- Interpreting EOBs and ERAs
- Supporting billing for psychiatry, psychotherapy, TMS, Spravato, IV ketamine, and telepsychiatry
- Managing credentialing tasks such as payer enrollment, recredentialing, CAQH maintenance, and provider file upkeep
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of medical billing experience
- 1+ year of insurance credentialing experience
- Experience with commercial insurance and Medicare
- Strong computer proficiency
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-10 diagnosis coding, HIPAA, EOB interpretation, revenue cycle management, eligibility, claim adjudication, prior authorization, and coordination of benefits
Preferred
- Behavioral health or psychiatry billing experience
- athenaOne experience
- AHCCCS experience
- CPC, CPB, or equivalent certification
- Credentialing experience with multi-provider practices
