Calvert Internal Medicine Group is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join the team. The role is responsible for entering patient charges, updating accounts, reconciling payments, interpreting and coding reports from specialist providers, auditing accounts, updating patient demographics, processing billing to patients and third-party companies, maintaining supporting documentation, soliciting payment plans when needed, keying data, posting transactions, verifying report accuracy, and posting and reconciling payments to the ledger.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- At least 3 years of previous medical billing and coding experience required
- Working knowledge of third-party claims and diagnostic coding, including ICD-9/10 and CPT coding, required
- Active medical coding certification required; AAPC certification preferred
Preferred experience
- Medical billing and coding: 5 years preferred
- ICD-9/10 and CPT coding: 1 year preferred
