Remote Senior Coding Specialist, Inpatient LTAC Coder

As a Senior Coding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and compliant coding of medical procedures and diagnoses for reimbursement purposes. You will review medical record documentation, assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes, collaborate with healthcare providers, support coding compliance, and help improve coding workflows and revenue cycle integrity.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
  • CCS or CPC credential preferred; CCS or CPC certification required per application details
  • Experience in medical coding, with a focus on inpatient, outpatient, or professional fee coding in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
  • Strong understanding of coding guidelines, regulations such as CMS and OIG, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in coding software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry changes

Experience and certification requirements

  • 1 year of medical coding experience for inpatient, outpatient, or professional fee settings
  • 1 year of experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems
  • 1 year of experience with medical terminology
  • 1 year of experience using coding software and EHR systems
  • 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • 1 year of experience with coding guidelines and regulations
  • 1 year of experience with reimbursement methodologies
  • 1 year of experience with healthcare compliance requirements
  • 1 year of experience with anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CCS or CPC certification required
