Revu Healthcare is seeking experienced outpatient medical coders for flexible, project-based 1099 contractor work supporting coding validation and audit projects as needed.
This role is remote and part of an on-call talent roster. Contractors are contacted when matching client projects become available, and placement does not guarantee immediate or continuous work. When active, assignments typically require 15+ hours per week.
Core responsibilities include outpatient coding reviews, validation audits, documentation review for coding accuracy and compliance, discrepancy identification, rationale preparation, and adherence to client workflows, productivity standards, HIPAA requirements, and project deadlines.
Completion and passing of the Revu Healthcare outpatient coding assessment
Active CPC certification from AAPC; CPC-A is not accepted
Minimum 5 years of outpatient coding experience
Prior coding audit or validation experience
Ability to commit to 15+ hours per week when assigned to a project
Strong knowledge of:
- CPT coding guidelines
- ICD-10-CM coding
- Outpatient facility coding
Experience with various EMR systems
Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft Outlook
- Excel
Strong written communication skills for audit rationales
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Preferred qualifications include:
- Outpatient ED coding reviews
- Epic or Cerner experience
- Consulting or contract coding experience
- Audit scorecards and QA processes
- Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding
- Surgical coding
- Facility/technical coding
