Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Coder and Biller, where you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate medical documentation, coding, and billing processes. This position involves working with EMR and EHR systems to translate medical records into precise codes that support reimbursement and compliance. You will help streamline revenue cycle management while supporting exceptional patient care.
Duties
- Review medical records to assign ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes based on documented diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
- Ensure coding accuracy by following current coding guidelines, medical terminology standards, and payer requirements.
- Prepare and submit complete medical claims for insurance reimbursement using EMR/EHR systems.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to support revenue recovery.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure documentation supports coded diagnoses and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
- Stay current on changes in coding regulations, insurance policies, and healthcare compliance standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Prior experience using EMR/EHR systems for data entry and claim submission.
- Knowledge of medical records management and healthcare billing compliance standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with medical collections and insurance claim procedures is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly with healthcare providers and insurance representatives.
