TeamHealth is seeking a Senior Coding Trainer to provide one-on-one and departmental guidance, monitor performance standards, and support the daily workflow of the Coding Department. This role ensures coding quality and consistency with ICD-9, ICD-10, corporate standards, and governmental guidelines while providing coding and documentation feedback to leadership within HCFS Billing Center and TeamHealth.

Key responsibilities include training coders, monitoring trainee progress, identifying educational opportunities, supporting daily coding operations, resolving balancing issues, helping meet month-end close requirements, monitoring production and QA performance, communicating coding and documentation updates, maintaining policies and procedures, coordinating resolution of coding issues across departments, and completing special projects and reports as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

College coursework preferred in a health care related field

Additional training in coding and medical documentation required

Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and physician billing

Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT procedural coding

CPC or CCS-P certification preferred

Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience; emergency medicine experience preferred

Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Ability to lead and direct others
