Mat-Su Surgical is a growing general surgery practice seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join the team in Palmer, Alaska. The role supports billing operations for a small practice focused on compassionate medical care.
The successful candidate will handle prior authorizations, payment posting, insurance claim submission, claim follow-up, and patient billing support. This position works closely with staff and patients to answer billing questions and help resolve billing concerns.
This is an in-person role with full-time hours and benefits including health insurance, paid time off, vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

Requirements and qualifications
- 1+ year of outpatient or other medical-related experience preferred
- Medical coding experience preferred; CPC preferred but not required
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Experience with general surgery and GI preferred
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
- CPC or CCS certification preferred
- Familiarity with billing software and electronic health record systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some college coursework in medical coding, medical terminology, or basic human anatomy preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of accuracy, professionalism, patience, dependability, and problem-solving ability
- Criminal background check clearance and fingerprint clearance required
