OrthoVirginia is seeking a detail-oriented and clinically knowledgeable Operatory Surgical Coding Specialist to support office-based surgical procedures across multiple locations in Virginia.
In this role, you will ensure accurate posting of surgical cases, proper billing of supplies and implants, and correct CPT/HCPCS coding in collaboration with surgeons, clinical staff, and the Operatory Director.
This position plays a critical role in optimizing reimbursement, preventing charge leakage, maintaining compliance, and ensuring accurate documentation for all office-based surgical procedures.
Required
- Previous experience in orthopedics
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), CCS-P, CRC, or similar coding credential
- Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding
- Experience in a surgical environment such as an ASC, hospital OR, or office-based operatory
- Strong understanding of surgical workflows, supplies, implants, and instrumentation
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working within an electronic health record (EHR) system
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, clinical teams, and administrative staff
Preferred
- Epic experience
- Experience with surgical charge capture, revenue integrity, or reimbursement optimization
- Experience with implant tracking, consignment inventory, and bill-only workflows
