As a Coding Specialist in the Medical Records department, you will accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and PCS codes to patient encounters and support the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program.
You will also review coding-related charges, calculate APC groupings, communicate coding updates to ancillary departments and medical staff, and help ensure compliance with CMS and other regulatory requirements.
High school diploma.
Classes in Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology.
2 years of acute care/hospital coding experience.
Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, PCS, and CPT coding.
Understanding of coding guidelines and CMS/regulatory requirements.
Preferred experience with Cerner and Solventum/3M.
Preferred experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams.
Recommended certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CCS-P.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Must provide a secure work environment and high-speed internet.
