Billing Manager

Root Center for Advanced Recovery is seeking a Billing Manager to oversee day-to-day billing operations and support revenue cycle objectives. This role leads billing staff, claims processing, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.

The Billing Manager partners with the Director of Revenue Integrity & Revenue Cycle Operations to implement revenue cycle initiatives, maintain payer compliance, improve operational performance, and support reimbursement goals. The position also serves as the operational leader of the billing department, with responsibility for workflow management, quality assurance, and process improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible healthcare billing and revenue cycle experience
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience leading billing, claims, or revenue cycle teams
  • Strong expertise in Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance billing, claims processing, denial management, and reimbursement methodologies
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP), or other revenue cycle certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific billing requirements
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, community health, FQHC, and/or multi-site healthcare environments strongly preferred
  • Experience with EMR systems and healthcare billing platforms required; Epic strongly preferred
  • Ability to analyze billing data, identify trends, and implement process improvements
  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable management, denial resolution, payment posting, and revenue cycle workflow optimization
  • Proven ability to supervise, coach, mentor, and develop billing professionals
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and strict confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and reporting tools
