Medical Billing Accounts Receivable Representative

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Billing AR Representative with a strong background in managing accounts receivable billing and collection of payments for designated payors and locations. The role supports patient and insurance billing processes, claim follow-up, and account resolution in a dynamic orthopedic practice.

You will be responsible for transferring patient and insurance information, initiating payment processes and procedures, responding to patient and insurance inquiries, maintaining confidentiality, and accurately entering patient data into the system.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve billing inquiries and problems
  • Code services using CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Follow up on Medicare, Commercial, Workers' Compensation, and No-Fault claims
  • Work clearinghouse rejections and correct errors for resubmission
  • Generate and submit electronic claims and statements; correct transmission errors
  • Handle patient questions regarding billing issues, out-of-network issues, and insurance guidelines
  • Review patient records to determine correct billing codes
  • Prepare appeal letters and supporting documentation for denied or unpaid claims
  • Research and process refund requests and overpayments
  • Prepare correspondence and collection letters
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management
Requirements & Qualifications

Must have a minimum of 2 years of medical billing and accounts receivable experience preferred.

  • Experience with Medicare, commercial insurance plans, Workers' Compensation, and No-Fault claims
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT coding, and modifiers
  • Experience preparing insurance appeals and resolving denied claims
  • Familiarity with electronic claim submission and clearinghouse edits
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work in-office in Syosset, NY
