Billing Specialist

Reliable Medical

Responsible for managing and processing medical billing activities to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. This role requires a solid understanding of insurance requirements, regulatory guidelines, and medical billing procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with the Billing Supervisor regarding departmental needs and claim rejection trends
  • Maintaining compliance with reimbursement rules, HIPAA, JCAHO, and company standards
  • Monitoring reimbursement and payment rule changes and communicating impacts to the team
  • Reviewing authorizations, prescriptions, and claim verifications to support clean claim submission
  • Billing equipment charts and delivery tickets according to insurance guidelines
  • Ensuring orders are billed within 72 hours of task creation
  • Working billing rejections and batch exceptions
  • Supporting additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, or relevant education
  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME) experience required
  • Experience with Brightree preferred
  • Background in a healthcare-related industry
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements and policy guidelines
  • Ability to determine medical justification by reviewing documentation
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills for working with referral sources and physician offices
  • Proficiency with billing software and patient portals
  • Ability to type more than 30 words per minute and navigate computer programs accurately and efficiently
