Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate reimbursement of assigned governmental insurance accounts. Works assigned portfolio to maximize reimbursement potential and meet collection goals. Contacts insurance companies and governmental payers to verify coordination of benefits (COB) and eligibility, and communicates billing or adjustment activities with governmental program billers.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or equivalent experience.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience required.
- At least 6 years of experience in a hospital business office with knowledge of government programs preferred.
- Experience in billing and business office functions, including collections, refunds, and payment remittance advices from government programs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills to resolve accounts with Medicare and Medicaid fiscal intermediaries and internal/external contacts.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, organizational, detail-oriented, and time-management skills.
- Working knowledge of government regulations, UB-04 and 1500 claim form requirements, MN, and CCI.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Current BHSF employees must have a merit rating of 4.0 or higher.
