Medical Biller/Collector/Charge Entry Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Biller/Collector/Charge Entry specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately entering charges, managing claims submissions, and following up on outstanding payments. Duties

  • Accurately input patient charges into billing software and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems using current medical coding standards such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG codes.
  • Submit healthcare claims efficiently to insurance companies, government programs, and patients while ensuring compliance with healthcare claims management protocols.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies, including patient outreach and insurance appeals.
  • Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures when necessary to facilitate accurate billing.
  • Maintain detailed records of billing activities, collections, and correspondence related to patient accounts.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and billing software enhancements to optimize workflow.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in medical billing, charge entry, or medical collections within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding systems including CPT, ICD-9/10, ICD coding, DRG classifications, and HCPCS codes.
  • Familiarity with billing software platforms and EMR/EHR systems used in healthcare practices.
  • Excellent understanding of health insurance processes, coverage policies, and healthcare claims management procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
  • Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
