We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced medical biller to join our healthcare team at Virginia Retina Specialists. The ideal candidate will manage the billing process, ensure accurate coding, and facilitate timely reimbursement from insurance companies and patients. This role is important in maintaining the financial health of the practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using CPT coding standards
- Review and verify medical records for completeness and accuracy before billing
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate collections
- Utilize EMR systems to document billing activities and update patient records
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and insurance requirements during the billing process
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries or discrepancies
- Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and correspondence
- Assist in resolving billing issues related to medical coding or documentation errors
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of medical coding, including CPT
- Proficiency in medical billing procedures and medical collection processes
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation standards
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills for interacting with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff
- Prior experience in a medical office environment is preferred
