Handles medical billing and claims follow-up for an orthopedic practice, including denied claims, accounts receivable review, insurance communication, corrected claims, and patient billing questions. Hybrid remote work is available after the probationary period.
1-2 years of recent medical billing experience
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and global surgery package rules
Experience with out-of-network claims and payments
Experience working denied claims and handling follow-up
Experience with accounts receivable and aging reports
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
Strong patient communication skills
Ability to independently research complex insurance guidelines and write persuasive, technical appeal letters
Preferred certifications:
- CPB (Certified Professional Biller, AAPC)
- COSC (Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder, AAPC)
Preferred experience:
- Medical billers and coders: 1 year
