Eye Care Specialists is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Medical Biller to join its growing ophthalmology and optometry practice. The ideal candidate will be organized, accurate, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team.
- Submit accurate and timely insurance claims
- Review claims for accuracy and proper coding
- Follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims
- Investigate and resolve billing and payment discrepancies
- Post insurance and patient payments
- Work insurance accounts receivable and aging reports
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed
- Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as assigned
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement
- Answer patient questions and assist with billing concerns
- Maintain accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality
- Collaborate with providers and staff to resolve coding and documentation issues
Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous medical billing experience preferred
- Ophthalmology or optometry billing experience is a plus
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, insurance claims, denials, and appeals
- Familiarity with Medicare and commercial insurance plans
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Experience with electronic medical records and practice-management systems preferred
