Dynamic and growing dermatology practice seeking an energetic, highly motivated Medical Biller/Coder to join the team.
This role is essential to maintaining the financial health of the practice and ensuring accurate, timely billing and reimbursement.
As a Medical Billing Assistant, you will support the financial operations of the healthcare facility by processing claims, managing patient accounts, and helping ensure accurate collections and reimbursement.
Requirements & Qualifications
Key responsibilities
- Verify and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement
- Follow up on accounts receivable
- Work rejected, denied, and non-covered claims
- Complete appeals
- Complete large insurance payer projects
- Work with insurance provider representatives to initiate and complete major insurance projects
- Analyze large groups of claims by insurance payer to identify trends and develop solutions for future submissions
- Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Verify appropriate coding, including ICD-10, ICD-9, HCPCS, and CPT
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing inquiries or disputes
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Medical billing experience
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to a fast-changing environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Excel
- Professional communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Self-motivated with urgency and ability to prioritize critical tasks
- Insurance and patient payment posting experience
- EHR and practice management experience, preferably ModMed
