Medical Biller (Laboratory)

Duties

• Prepare and submit laboratory billing claims using appropriate coding standards, including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD.
• Review and verify medical records to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes.
• Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims.
• Ensure compliance with billing regulations and guidelines related to laboratory services.
• Use EMR and EHR systems to enter data, track claims, and update patient information.
• Maintain detailed and organized medical records related to billing transactions.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures as needed for accurate coding.
• Stay current on changes in medical coding standards and billing regulations affecting laboratory services.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical billing, preferably in a laboratory or diagnostic setting.
• Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical office procedures.
• Experience with EMR and EHR systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of medical collection processes and insurance claim submission is preferred.
• Prior experience in a healthcare environment involving laboratory services is an asset.
