Responsible for claims billing and follow-up on claim denials and outstanding accounts receivable for the Government Unit of the Professional Billing Group.
Key responsibilities include:

- Special projects assigned by the unit supervisor
This position supports billing and collection services for UC Davis Health faculty physicians and is designated as a hybrid role with both on-site and remote work.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience
- Follow-up payer billing experience
- Successful payor denial appeals experience
- Experience with government and third-party payors, including current regulations, timelines, and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicare Risk Plans
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Risk, Tricare, and VA plans
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, follow-up, and reimbursement requirements for government programs, private third-party insurance, and private individuals
- Ability to analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Remittance Advice (RA)
- Analytical ability to assess account balances and determine next action steps
- Knowledge of medical terminology, credit and collection practices, basic accounting, CPT, and ICD-10 policies related to billing
- Strong math, writing, proofreading, communication, organization, prioritization, keyboarding, and office equipment skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience or training
- 2+ years of government billing and follow-up experience
- Solid working experience in Epic Professional Billing Resolute
