The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment of insurance claims and self-pay balances. This role requires a strong understanding of accounts receivable and practice management reports, along with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

Maintain knowledge of and comply with third-party payer and government billing requirements
Apply insurance and patient payments to accounts
Audit patient accounts to support timely payment and respectful collections
Research credit balances
Verify insurance benefits for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
Identify and correct billing errors, and work appeals and denials
Follow up on outstanding claims in a timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned
