Responsibilities include preparing monthly research invoices from laboratory information system or Excel reports, applying billing rates by test type, creating and emailing invoices in QuickBooks Online, managing accounts receivable, recording payments, verifying insurance, reviewing benefits, monitoring billing portals, following up on billing issues, and helping improve billing accuracy and reimbursement outcomes.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical billing, preferably in pathology, laboratory, healthcare, or research billing
- Knowledge of insurance verification, benefits, claims processing, and reimbursement workflows
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or missing information
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and general accounting knowledge is a plus
Preferred experience
- Certified Medical Biller
- ICD-10 and CPT coding
- HIPAA compliance
- Pathology or laboratory billing experience
