Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join a dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will manage the billing process, ensure accurate coding, submit claims, and follow up to help optimize revenue cycle operations. The position requires strong knowledge of medical coding, insurance procedures, and customer service to support patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

Review and accurately assign medical codes using DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
Prepare and submit healthcare claims using billing software integrated with EMR and EHR systems.
Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure documentation complies with healthcare regulations and standards.
Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies and inquiries.
Stay current on health insurance policies, coding changes, and billing regulations.
Use Microsoft Office tools for reporting, data analysis, and record keeping.

Experience and Qualifications

Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of healthcare claims management.

Familiarity with DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.

Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and billing software.

Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and health insurance procedures.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Prior medical office experience preferred but not required.

Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and work accurately under deadlines.
