Ascent Healthcare is seeking an experienced medical biller to join its expanding billing team in the Portland metro area. The role supports skilled nursing facilities throughout Oregon and Washington and begins with onsite training before transitioning to remote work. This position is part of a full-cycle billing team and may start with heavy data entry while the company completes a billing software transition.
The role includes working with accounts receivable, claims, patient statements, payments, and payer communications, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely reimbursement.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a fast-paced medical billing environment
- Working knowledge of skilled nursing facility (SNF) and hospice billing
- Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes in Oregon and Washington
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, confidentiality, and record keeping
- Comfortable navigating multiple software programs and insurance websites
- Strong customer service, communication, integrity, and problem-solving skills
- Credentialing experience is a plus
Experience Requirements
- Medical billing: 3 years required
- Accounts receivable: 3 years required
- Geriatric medical billing: 1 year preferred
Location Requirements
- Must live near the Portland, OR metro area
- Must be able to complete onsite training
- Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for on-site meetings when necessary
