We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support claim preparation, submission, and resolution for a growing medical services firm. This role supports physician billing for outpatient and rural health services, including primary care, behavioral health, durable medical equipment, and other specialties.
The position is responsible for reviewing claim data before submission, resolving pre-bill edits and clearinghouse rejections, coordinating with clients to correct missing or inaccurate information, and monitoring claim status to ensure timely submission. The role also involves researching denials, identifying root causes, and working with internal and offshore team members to improve billing outcomes.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years of medical billing experience, preferably in a multispecialty or mid-size medical group.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT codes, modifiers, and place of service rules
- Advanced knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing rules
- Experience with physician billing, outpatient billing, and preferably DME, behavioral health, and rural health billing
- Familiarity with practice management software, clearinghouses, payer portals, and MS Office, especially Excel
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Ability to research payer-specific rules and resolve claim denials
- High school diploma required; associate degree in a medical or business-related field preferred
- Formal billing and/or coding training preferred
