A growing walk-in urgent care practice on the Treasure Coast is hiring a Medical Billing & A/R Specialist for its Stuart office. This role owns the billing inbox and billing phone line, serves as the point of contact for patients, attorneys, insurance carriers, and the remote billing team, and is responsible for resolving billing issues quickly and professionally.
Key responsibilities include handling patient billing disputes end to end, explaining the time-of-service payment model, producing itemized receipts and superbills, reconciling collections against EOBs, processing refunds, responding to chargebacks, managing personal injury and motor vehicle accident accounts, handling workers' compensation billing workflows, reviewing reports from the remote billing and coding team, tracking open items through closure, driving denials and underpayments to resolution, handling records requests and chart audits, posting payments, monitoring payment plans, and reporting AR and collections trends to leadership.
This is an onsite role in Stuart, FL with a consistent weekday schedule and direct access to ownership.
Associate's or bachelor's degree in any field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing, patient accounts, insurance claims, or a comparable role
- Hands-on experience with workers' compensation billing
- Experience with personal injury or auto PIP accounts, including letters of protection and reduction requests
- Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume inbox and prioritize aging items
- Ability to review claims and aging reports critically
- Working knowledge of payer rules, denials, EOBs, refunds, and credit balances
- Comfortable working with a remote team across time zones
- Proficiency with a practice management system or EHR; AdvancedMD is a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- CPC, CPB, or CCS certification is welcome but not required
