A Billing Representative at Dermatology Partners is responsible for managing patient billing activities with a strong focus on accuracy, customer service, and confidentiality. The role involves preparing statements, processing payments, pursuing past due balances, and supporting the billing department with various administrative and patient-account tasks.
Key duties include:
- Handle billing processes, including invoicing and reconciling accounts
- Track and maintain records of patient billing and billable items
- Resolve account discrepancies
- Prepare client statements for electronic submission
- Communicate with patients by phone to answer questions and help settle accounts
- Collaborate with patients and team members to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors
- Collect payments and apply them to accounts in a timely manner
- Perform data entry as needed
- Maintain discretion and protect patient information
- Follow Dermatology Partners procedures and methods and adapt to changes as needed
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

- Strong attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills
- Knowledge of preparing statements, processing payments, and pursuing past due balances
- Ability to accurately code different procedures and diagnosis codes
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information
- Ability to read and understand an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures and HIPAA requirements
- Strong investigative, problem-solving, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Minimum 2 years of claims processing experience
- Working knowledge of an EMR system
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer service experience
- Ability to cross-train and support other billing department functions
