Billing Representative

DERMATOLOGY PARTNERS

A Billing Representative at Dermatology Partners is responsible for managing patient billing activities with a strong focus on accuracy, customer service, and confidentiality. The role involves preparing statements, processing payments, pursuing past due balances, and supporting the billing department with various administrative and patient-account tasks.

Key duties include:

  • Handle billing processes, including invoicing and reconciling accounts
  • Track and maintain records of patient billing and billable items
  • Resolve account discrepancies
  • Prepare client statements for electronic submission
  • Communicate with patients by phone to answer questions and help settle accounts
  • Collaborate with patients and team members to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors
  • Collect payments and apply them to accounts in a timely manner
  • Perform data entry as needed
  • Maintain discretion and protect patient information
  • Follow Dermatology Partners procedures and methods and adapt to changes as needed
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Desired qualifications include:

  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills
  • Knowledge of preparing statements, processing payments, and pursuing past due balances
  • Ability to accurately code different procedures and diagnosis codes
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information
  • Ability to read and understand an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures and HIPAA requirements
  • Strong investigative, problem-solving, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Minimum 2 years of claims processing experience
  • Working knowledge of an EMR system
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to cross-train and support other billing department functions
