Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a Risk Adjustment Coordinator to support risk coding activities for provider practices and the CIN organization. This role partners with the Director of Risk Coding and other team members to provide pre- and post-visit review analysis, risk coding education, and chart review support. The position also focuses on up-coding workflows, project coordination, and helping improve practice risk scores.
The coordinator will work collaboratively with physicians, hospital administrators, Medicare beneficiaries, and other departments while representing the health system in a professional manner. The role supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Baptist Health South Florida.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or equivalent experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Science preferred
- AAPC Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) and/or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- AAPC Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), or must obtain within 1 year of hire
- Completion of an accredited certified coding specialist program
- 2+ years of clinic, hospital, and/or managed care experience
- 1+ years of experience in risk adjustment and HEDIS/Stars
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM codes, Category II codes, COA measures, CMS documentation requirements, and applicable state/federal regulations
- Understanding of compliance, reimbursement, diagnosis coding, and risk adjustment payment models
- Ability to identify HCC improvement opportunities and educate providers on documentation and coding guidelines
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Ability to defend coding decisions during internal and external audits
- Strong organizational skills and sound judgment in changing environments
- Minimum required experience: 5 years
