Medical Billing Specialist

Florida Cardiovascular Partners is hiring a Medical Billing Specialist (Cardiology) to support billing and revenue cycle operations in an in-office setting in Tradition / Port St. Lucie, FL.

This role focuses on insurance verification, authorization management, claims processing support, and patient billing assistance. The position helps ensure patients are financially cleared before visits, claims are processed accurately, and patients receive courteous support regarding balances and insurance questions.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Verifying insurance eligibility, benefits, and copay requirements for scheduled patients
  • Completing insurance verifications before appointments and following up on missing information
  • Obtaining prior authorizations and referrals for visits, testing, and procedures when required
  • Reviewing patient benefits to determine copays, coinsurance, and coverage details
  • Working daily claim queues and billing work logs, including denials and claim edits
  • Researching and resolving issues preventing claim submission or payment
  • Answering patient billing calls for the Vero Beach location
  • Contacting patients with outstanding balances prior to appointments
  • Preparing and sending Good Faith Estimates to self-pay patients
  • Supporting general billing and revenue cycle tasks assigned by leadership

Monthly responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with month-end claims review and unresolved denials
  • Reviewing recurring denial or verification issues and escalating trends to leadership
  • Supporting scheduled audits or internal reviews
  • Participating in billing or revenue cycle meetings when requested
  • Maintaining updated referral and authorization logs
  • Confirming Good Faith Estimates were issued, documented, and stored appropriately
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or healthcare administration preferred
  • Strong knowledge of insurance benefits, authorizations, and billing terminology
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a clinical environment
  • Maintain updated referral and authorization logs
  • Confirm Good Faith Estimates for self-pay patients are issued, documented, and stored appropriately
