Home Care Powered by AUAF is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to manage billing processes for services provided through the Community Care Program.
This role is responsible for accurate and timely billing, claims processing, insurance verification, and accounts receivable activities. The position also supports compliance with state regulations, insurance policies, HIPAA, and organizational procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely billing for services rendered.
- Review and process claims, verify insurance details, and ensure proper documentation.
- Confirm claims are submitted according to state and insurance company guidelines.
- Verify coverage and ensure pre-authorizations and referrals are in place.
- Coordinate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies, billing issues, and underpayments.
- Maintain accurate records of insurance information, coverage details, and payment history.
- Monitor accounts for outstanding balances, billing errors, and discrepancies.
- Process adjustments, corrections, and disputes as needed.
- Maintain organized billing documentation for audits and reporting.
- Collaborate with case managers and service coordinators to ensure services are documented properly.
- Communicate with internal teams and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Support finance and administration teams during disputes or audits.
- Update billing systems with service, payment, and adjustment information.
- Prepare regular billing reports and assist with financial reconciliations.
- Perform other billing-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of billing experience.
- Strong understanding of Community Care Billing and ICD-10.
- Medical billing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance verification, claims management, and payer policies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
