We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist for a busy medical office specializing in dermatology and radiology.
Responsibilities
- Submit, review, and follow up on insurance claims
- Bill for dermatology, radiology, and pathology services
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections processes
- Post payments and manage denials and appeals
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments from insurance companies and patients
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, billing regulations, and payer policies
- Assist in resolving billing discrepancies and patient inquiries related to billing statements
Requirements & Qualifications
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related healthcare administrative roles
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with medical records management
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology
- Experience with medical collections and insurance claim processing
- Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately for coding purposes
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to billing and coding compliance
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Prior experience working with medical office systems is preferred
- Certification in medical billing/coding is a plus
