The START Center for Cancer Care is seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its Revenue Cycle team in a fully on-site role in San Antonio, TX.

This position plays an important role in supporting financial operations and helping ensure timely reimbursement for services provided to cancer patients.
The role is responsible for billing activities, accounts receivable management, denial follow-up, patient financial services, and compliance-related documentation. It requires strong knowledge of medical billing processes, payer guidelines, and revenue cycle operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle management
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers
- Proficiency with medical billing systems and electronic health records
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit clean claims accurately and timely
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims
- Review EOBs and payer responses for accuracy
- Monitor and manage assigned accounts receivable balances
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies
- Investigate denials and rejections
- Prepare appeals, corrected claims, and supporting documentation
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding statements and balances
- Assist with payment plans and documentation
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and accurate billing records
