UVA Health is seeking an experienced inpatient professional fee coder to support coding quality, reimbursement accuracy, documentation integrity, and regulatory compliance within a complex academic medical center environment.
In this remote role, you will perform professional fee coding and quality review for complex inpatient physician services across multiple specialties. The work includes coding admissions, consultations, critical care services, and bedside procedures while helping maintain compliance and coding accuracy in a high-acuity teaching hospital setting.
You will collaborate with providers and operational teams, support coding audits and education, and contribute to revenue cycle performance for a nationally recognized academic health system.
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of relevant coding experience required
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
- Strong experience with inpatient professional fee coding
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD coding, documentation standards, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with modifiers, NCCI edits, split/shared services, resident billing, APP billing, and diagnostic specificity
- Experience in a teaching hospital or academic medical center preferred
- Ability to maintain productivity and accuracy with complex inpatient encounters
