As a Billing Representative, you will serve as a resource to clinic physicians, nurses, medical assistants, managers, and staff on insurance-related issues.
You will handle day-to-day billing operations, including reviewing and processing patient accounts, insurance claims, and payment postings. The role requires accurate and timely billing, follow-up on denied claims, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
You will also be responsible for entering charges for office visits and procedures, transmitting charges daily, printing and mailing paper claims and patient statements, posting insurance and patient payments, and researching and rebilling denied or unpaid claims. In addition, you will help maintain accurate patient financial charts and support consistent billing practices for quality healthcare data.
Required
- Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience
- Knowledge of Medicare and medical compliance and documentation standards for billing
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
- Understanding of physician guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy, and disease processes
- Demonstrable ability to apply coding knowledge to make sound coding choices
Preferred
- Associate degree or other two-year college degree
- Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based
