Service Account Specialist - Billing

As a Billing Service Specialist, you will represent Quest Diagnostics to clients in a professional manner and help streamline, improve, and enhance the billing experience for physicians, office staff, and patients. This role focuses on reducing revenue loss, denials, bad debt, missing information, and third-party write-offs through client education and account management.

The territory covers mainly Northeastern Ohio and Southwestern Pennsylvania, including the Pittsburgh and Monroeville areas. The position is field-based at least 70% of the time, primarily in Pennsylvania, with about one day per week in the office. Some overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Improve billing data quality through client education and account management
  • Conduct client visits and prioritize accounts based on education needs and billing trends
  • Educate clients on Medicare Limited Coverage Policy, ABN, Medicaid requirements, regional third-party policies, PECOS, and missing demographic or insurance information
  • Support the Commercial Sales team with client training and education for new customers and billing initiatives
  • Serve as a liaison for customer billing issues and communicate them to the appropriate department for resolution
  • Drive improvement toward defined goals
  • Document significant client interactions in Salesforce CRM
  • Perform other assigned duties
Requirements & Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in laboratory or physician-level healthcare medical billing or claims
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time to client sites
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Cell phone
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain good customer relationships

Preferred qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience pulling and analyzing data to identify root causes, trends, and opportunities
  • 3+ years of face-to-face customer relationship management experience
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid coverage policies
