Quad City Gastroenterology is hiring a full-time Billing Specialist.

The Billing Specialist oversees the entire billing process for patient accounts, from submitting claims to insurance in a timely manner to working with the coding specialist to ensure cases are coded correctly. The role also leads monthly coding audits and supports insurance collections.
Responsibilities
- Electronically submit patient procedure bills to third-party payers
- Perform timely and accurate posting of payments received from third-party payers and/or patients
- Process rejected and denied claims submitted to third-party payers
- Contact insurance companies to collect outstanding payments
- Monitor and collect AR aging
- Interpret managed care contracts, Medicare, Medicaid, and Workers' Compensation claims
- Identify accounts that have been underpaid or overpaid
- Issue credit balance information to the insurance carrier or the patient
- Work independently and collaboratively with business office staff
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- At least 3 years of experience in medical billing
- Extensive knowledge of claims reimbursement and collection efforts for Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Comp, and Commercial plans
- Strong knowledge of billing, collections, and reimbursement in claims processing
- Fluent in medical terminology and CPT codes
- Strong organization, time management, and task prioritization skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and patient information security
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Comfortable using critical thinking skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Understanding of HIPAA and other healthcare-specific policies
