Illuminus is seeking a highly motivated Billing Specialist to support resident billing, collections, claims submission, and authorization-related tasks for senior living and healthcare operations.
In this role, you will:
- Obtain authorizations and ensure timely, accurate release of claims
- Manage collections for commercial insurance, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Family Care payer groups
- Complete daily deposits and update cash balance logs
- Maintain resident census records, including admissions, discharges, status changes, and payer updates
- Track and follow up on outstanding balances in accordance with facility policies
- Participate in weekly billing meetings and monthly billing follow-up
- Submit month-end reports as needed
- Manage, account for, and disburse resident funds
- Track claims through the clearinghouse and verify successful transmission
- Post ancillary charges and payments
- Submit authorizations timely to prevent billing issues
- Participate in aging calls and communicate payment issues to finance leadership
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered, you should have:
- Two-year associate degree
- Two years of accounts receivable experience, preferably in healthcare
- Word processing and spreadsheet knowledge
- Typing and filing abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions
- Ability to adapt to change
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to quality outcomes
